London Marathon 2027 Ballot Opens Friday: Everything You Need to Know

The 2027 TCS London Marathon ballot opens at 9am on Friday 24 April and closes at 4pm on Friday 1 May. Entries are free, the draw is random, and results land in early July 2026. The race itself is set for Sunday 25 April 2027.

If you're picked, that gives you roughly nine months to build up. Plenty of time if you start now.

A possible two day race weekend

The bigger story is what might happen on race weekend. London Marathon Events is exploring a one off two day format that would see runners on the course on both Saturday 24 April and Sunday 25 April 2027.

If it gets the green light, every ballot entrant is automatically entered into both draws. Effectively doubling the chance of a place. Nobody gets picked twice, so if you're drawn for Saturday, you're not running Sunday.

It's the first time London has considered anything like this. One of the biggest marathons in the world, running over two days, in one weekend.

What it costs

UK residents have two options at entry.

Option 1: Pay nothing upfront. If drawn, the race fee is £79.99.

Option 2: Donate £49.99 to the London Marathon Foundation at the point of entry. You get a second ballot entry if you miss the first draw. Miss that one too and you receive a London Marathon hydration vest worth over £100. If you do get drawn, you pay no further fee.

International entrants pay £225 if successful, which includes a carbon offset fee.

Other ways to get a place

The ballot isn't the only route in. You can also get a spot by:

Running for a charity (most ask for around £2,500 fundraising minimum)
Joining an international sports tour
Posting a Good For Age time
Hitting a Championship Time
Entering through a British Athletics club

Charity places are still the most realistic option for anyone who isn't fast enough for a qualifying time. £2,500 is a big ask, but thousands of runners hit it every year.

What to do while you wait

Ballot results drop in early July 2026. That's about ten weeks from now.

Best advice? Don't wait for the email to start training. Whether you get a London place or end up running another spring marathon, the base you build over the summer is what carries you through autumn and winter. Aerobic base, easy miles, and gradual volume increases.

And if you are drawn, you'll already be nine months ahead of the runners who started from zero.

Where Wallbreaker fits

Marathon training demands a lot from the body. More miles, more impact, more recovery to manage.

Wallbreaker is a daily all in one supplement built specifically for runners. One scoop, once a day. It supports muscle recovery after training, supports joint health, helps replenish electrolytes lost through sweat, and supports the immune system during heavy training blocks.

It replaces the stack of separate supplements most runners end up juggling. Magnesium, turmeric, electrolytes, a B complex. All in one pouch.

One less thing to think about, especially when your training plan starts building.

Good luck with the ballot.
